Innes Ireland, Kirkcudbright

In the archives of the HeraldScotland Newspaper is an article entitled “The Scot called Ireland who was born in England and lived in Wales” by Alisdair Reid. This is the story of Innes Ireland who was brought up in Kirkcudbright and who had a successful career as a racing driver. On retirement he returned to the Kirkcudbright area where he had a fishing boat. He also, if I remember rightly, used to drive an old sports car which he would abandon double-parked, anywhere he liked in the streets of the town. He died in 1993. Click here to read his story….
