Stewartry Snippets – Gleanings Along the Way

Whilst researching for the website Historical and Genealogical Resources for the Parishes in Kirkcudbright, Scotland, I sometimes come across snippets of information which are too good to lose, but which perhaps don't contain enough information to warrant an individual entry on the website, or which stray slightly from the 'Stewartry only' ethos of the site, or which are subject to the copyright of others and which I can't reproduce on the Kirkcudbrightshire site.
